In another vocation, the cocktail of nervous energy and obsessiveness that permeates J.'s daily existence would almost certainly get him fired; in the studio, it makes him perfectly suited to the manipulation (seducing? strangling?) of disparate tracks into that elusive brass ring known as a real, honest-to-goodness "record."
