There’s something about Dan Craig’s music. Often compared to artists such as Damien Rice, Ryan Adams and Josh Ritter, the innocence of Dan’s songwriting and the seasoned scratch of his voice give way to the unique, yet reminiscently inviting music for which he has become known. His 2006 release, Wirebird, ranges from subtly introspective to out-and-out experimental, causing Marquee Magazine to describe it as equally appropriate for “long drives or minor meltdowns.”

Born and raised in Denver, Dan was always attracted to the independent spirit of his hometown. Dan has been actively crafting his own songwriting and performing solo, as well as contributing to other local music projects. Years of experience (Dan started his first band at 13) and a truly diverse array of influences have contributed to a unique brand of music that fits well next to the most gentle singer-songwriter or a more intense indie rock band.

Dan’s lyrics reflect the love of his city and the beauty of Colorado. The passionate and hopeful imagery intermingled with his background in biology and medicine make for a lyrically voice that is truly his own. His songs have a knack for expressing the human condition scientifically without losing the emotional importance of everyday life.

With the forthcoming release of Skin Grows Thin, Dan will have self-released three full-length records, including 2006’s Wirebird and New Every Morning from 2005. Both previous releases are available at cdbaby.com and iTunes, with Skin Grows Thin available May 27.

2008 will find him back on the road, spreading some wings outside Colorado.
